Hitler and The Chocolate Factory

Recently, a young English speaking boy mysteriously walked out of a German forest. Apparently, his father had died and he had just buried him. But since this happened in Germany, the conversation devolved into a discussion of Hitler and Bavarian chocolate. Justin mentioned that Bavaria is known for their amazing chocolate, but both Brian and Andrew thought that he was just making things up again.

Badassic Park

Jon Tilton said on Twitter that he was sad that he will never be able to live along side dinosaurs. This of course sparked a conversation on reversing evolution and bringing back the dinosaurs. Since, the guys don't quite have the ability to reverse evolution right now, they decided to get a huge piece of land and pick the most badass living animals to put in there. Justin picked wild African dogs, Brian picked great white sharks and Andrew picked Komodo Dragons to put in their park along with cassowaries, a type of killer Australian birds. To add to their "badass" line-up, Brian adds some of the most deadly animals on the face of the Earth, 38 mosquitoes. Understandably disappointed, Justin brings in a truck full of Rape Apes. Then, in an effort to attract more visitors, they decided that they will have the animals fight each other in an arena for our enjoyment.

Icelandic Elves

A recent survey came out that showed that many Icelandic people believe that elves exist. 13% say that it is impossible for elves to exist, 19% said it was unlikely, 37% said it was possible, 17% said it was likely, 8% said it was definite and 5% had no opinion. Upon hearing this, Brian became VERY disappointed with the Icelandic people.

Chances of NASA Murdering You: 1 in 3000

At the time of the podcast, the UARS satellite was close to falling back to Earth and NASA said that there was a 1 in 3000 chance of it hitting a human. Interestingly enough, that is the same odds of the Weird Things podcast making it through an entire episode without a Hitler reference.

In a related story, NASA announced their plans for their next generation of rockets. This lead to a discussion about how wasteful NASA is in most of their projects. They talked about how the government stopped funding the James Webb telescope and how many scientists, including Neil deGrasse Tyson, were upset that we would even consider not funding it. Justin however argues that you can get a bigger bang for your buck elsewhere in space research.
