::I want to make the case for component HD video. HDMI is actually a terrible video standard that only works over short distances, and has no error correction built into it. While this won't apply to most people's home TV setups, if you're going to be wiring ceiling-mounted projectors, etc., you can very easily run component video hundreds of feet without issues, but HDMI is limited to about 50 feet with the best quality cabling possible. Anything longer than that will require additional equipment (repeaters, etc.) to achieve a longer run that works reliably.<br /><br />There are some great write-ups about HDMI at Blue Jeans Cable's website that go into great detail about what's wrong with the HDMI standard (the "What's the Matter with HDMI?" article is a great place to start).
