Birthday Fun Times

The day of recording was Justin's 30th birthday and Andrew wanted to find out what everyone's dream gift would be. He proposes a scenario in which presented to each of the host is a 15" cube box that contains their dream present. Their gifts are:

  • Justin - Untold wealth
  • Brian - Portal Gun, a light saber, a phaser and various other sci-fi gadgets
  • Andrew - Iron Man armor

Getting "more realistic", Andrew proposes a scenario in which Bill Gates calls them up and gives them anything that he can that will fit inside of the 15" cube box. The gifts they asked for were:

  • Justin - The patents to Microsoft Office in a Word file.
  • Brian - The box full of anti-matter
  • Andrew - A ton of processors

500 Days to Mars

Amature Astronaut, Denis Tito, wants to send a married couple on a 500 day trip to do a flyby of Mars in 2018. Obviously there are still a ton of obstacles to overcome, not the least of which is cosmic radiation.

But there is one potential solution to the radiation problem: poop, or as Andrew put it, "butt boogers". The idea is that you would excrete your feces into a bag and line the walls of the capsule to help shield you from radiation. The guys had a lengthy discussion about whether or not this is a horrible idea. Brian thinks that 500 days in a small room surrounded by "butt bags" would be a better experience than the early Apollo missions in which astronauts sat around in a soiled diaper for a couple days. Andrew and Justin would prefer to have a dedicated septic system for their year and a half journey to Mars.
