- Sony Computer entertainment’s President of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, confirmed in a post on Twitter that the company is indeed working on a remote play app for PC/Mac. An unofficial app for remote play was released by a developer called Twisted a few days ago.
- Reuters reports LG Display will invest more than 10 trillion won ($8.71 billion) to build a planet to make OLED panels in Paju, South Korea. The plant will make all sizes from watches to large screen TVS. Production is expected to begin in the first half of 2018.
- Android Police discovered and TechCrunch back up that Instagram is testing, multiple account management in its beta apps. If you’re a beta tester you should find an add account option below clear search history at the bottom of the settings page. You can join the Instagram for Android Beta Testers group at Google Groups.
- A crowd-funded router on Indiegogo is getting a lot of attention according to the Next Web. The Omnia’s is built on OpenWRT firmware, has a virtual server, 1 GB of RAM and SFB connector and handle a SIM card for redundant connectivity. But the big selling point is security, with automatic updates and a crypto chip for random number generation. You can buy a careless version for $99 or pay $189 for one in a case. Retail is expected to be $285 and shipping in April 2016.
- The Verge reports a robot called “Spencer” begins trial runs Monday helping passengers at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Spencer is supposed to passengers get from one gate to another. The robot has an internal map and will be testing its ability to deal with semi-permanent obstacles like luggage carts and generally unpredictable human behavior.
- The Times of India reports dating app Tinder has seen a 400% increase in downloads over the last year. Tinder would not comment on the total number but said 90% of Indian users are 18-34 and conversations in the app last longer in India than in any other country.
- DJI announced a new eight-rotor Agras MG-1 octocopter? meant for agricultural use. The Agras is designed for spraying crops at 7-10 acres an hour with a 10 liter tank. DJI claims it’s more than 10 times as efficient as manual spraying. The drone uses microwave radar to scan and maintain distance modulating spraying for even coverage. The Agras will launch in China and Korea first for roughly $15,000.
