Roku launches its wireless speakers for Roku TVs, an autonomous car completes the Goodwood course, and Scotland’s getting Europe’s first vertical takeoff spaceport.

- Roku introduced its Roku TV Wireless Speakers, for use with Roku TVs, but not with Roku boxes or sticks. The speakers connect to a Roku-powered TV using the WiFi-powered Roku Connect platform announced at CES. The speakers also have Bluetooth for playing music from other devices. The speakers come with the Roku TV Voice Remote and a square Roku Touch remote for keeping on a coffee table. Customers who pre-order now can get them for $150 until July 24, and $180 after that until October 15 when they start shipping and become $200.
- Roborace's autonomous car has become the first to complete the hill climb at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The hill is a 300-foot gradual climb with narrow hay and brick-lined passages. A Siemens autonomous Ford Mustang also completed the course but with several interventions from a human safety driver.
- Orbex announced Monday it has raised $40 million to develop a vehicle for low-cost high-volume small satellite launches. The rocket will deliver up to 150 kg to a sun-synchrnous orbit at 500 km. Orbex, Lockheed Martin and the UK government will build Europe's first vertical launch spaceport at Sutherland in northern Scotland. The spaceport is expected to begin launches in 2020 with Orbex's first launch in 2021.
- The Verdi services union in Germany called for a one-day strike at 6 Amazon facilities as part of its push for labor contracts that guarantee healthy working conditions at fulfillment centers. Amazon workers in Spain are taking part in a three-day strike and Amazon workers in Poland are engaging in a work slowdown. The labor actions coincide with Amazon's sales promotion called Prime Day.
- The Australian Digital Health Agency will create an online consolidation of health records for all Australians automatically. Concerned citizens have three months from Monday to opt-out of the records creation. The Agency's online and telephone support systems ground to a halt Monday under the unexpectedly large numbers of people wishing to opt out. 1.9% opted out of an initial trial of 1 million, leading to projections of only 500,000 opt outs over the three month period before the nationwide rollout.
- Messaging app company Line launched its cryptocurrency exchange, BITBOX with support for 30 coins. The service is not available in Japan or North America.
- Italy's gas utility SNAM and France's electric transmission company RTE are testing long-distance drones to monitor pipelines and power lines. The drones can fly to places normally outside the line of sight of helicopters or more basic drones. Both companies received special permits to test the drones because they fly beyond visual line of sight. Connective infrastructure is becoming more complex as more solar and wind parks are connected to the grid.
- Bloomberg reports Apple lost three executives in India and is restructuring its India sales team. Apple's market share for phones in India is stuck in the single digits unable to compete with Samsung and Xiaomi.
- Microsoft will add call recording to Skype across Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and Linux. All members of a call are notified as recording begins and audio video and screen shares are all included in the recording. The feature will start rolling out at the end of July.
