Pick of the Day

I have a pick to make the Mac function keys more functional.
I was frustrated that I couldn't use the rewind, play/pause, fast forward buttons to control content in Chrome. So I searched and found Streamkeys chrome plug in. It works with a lot of major streaming sites including Spotify, Google play music, iHeart radio, Pandora and more.
Enjoy

A big part of the shock of the refresh of the PS4 and Xbox One is that the last console cycle was very long. If you look up the history of Nintendo, Sega, Playstation, Atari and Xbox console cycles, the one thing that stands out, the 8 years for both the Playstastion 3 and Xbox 360. Before then Sega was on a steady 4 year refresh cycle, Nintendo and Sony on 5.

Other aspect that people seemed to forget is that the Xbox 360 received several redesigns during it's lifecycle. Maybe you have forgotten this, because A) Microsoft replaced it so many times for you or B) you bought a new one every couple of years anyway. The original version did not ship with HDMI. Later versions did. This also allowed better 1080p up scaling, something the original Xbox 360 lacked.

The last generation's long cycle was beneficial in many ways, but it also hurt gaming. As a PC gamer, I for one was grateful to see this generation arrive, because frankly, the last three years of the previous cycle was terrible. The ports we got with their washout textures and low resolution models was really awful.

My own gaming needs aside, this generation feels very unbalanced and underpowered. The consoles have 8GB of RAM, but they lack the sufficient CPU horsepower to drive 1080p gaming at 30Hz or 60Hz. Something that has hurt the Xbox One especially. Other than fixing the wrongs from the past, a quicker refresh means lower development costs. With each version arriving with an evolution of the previous version, updated to reflect newer versions of AMD"s CPU and Graphics cores, while maintaining the software compatibility of the previous version.

So start looking forward to more regular purchases of Consoles and more remastered Games, now with better graphics and enhanced shaders. ;-) while still being able to play your older games.
