Sweaty Asteroid Of Revenge
Number 41
Broadcast Date July 22, 2011
Episode Length 1:21:29
Hosts Andrew Mayne, Brian Brushwood, Justin Robert Young, Brett Rounsaville

The boys are joined by old friend Brett Rounsaville as Justin schemes up the perfect murder plot which comes dangerously close to his interaction with one of his fellow panelists. Andrew dreams of a beautiful future where we all live on hollowed out space rocks and are delighted by it. Brian wields a razor with deadly accuracy, but will it put him on the wrong side of our new robot overlords?

Space is Cancelled

As they were recording, they were just hours away from the end of NASA's shuttle program. Brian explains how he would be sad if he hadn't gotten so excited about SpaceX. This leads to a conversation on whether or not actual fleshy human beings will be sent out to explore the stars. This morphed into a discussion about permanent colonies out in space. A recurring theme was the idea of asteroid tubes that were mentioned in a previous episode.

Hypothetical Murder

Andrew proposes a scenario where Brian and Justin are on the road and staying at a friends house, when all of the sudden Brian gets the urge to murder their friend. (At this point in the podcast, Brett is becoming VERY uncomfortable, because just a few weeks earlier Justin and Andrew had come to stay in Brett's house in Oakland.) Now, Brian just wants to murder his friend and not his girlfriend, so he has to be strategic. Together they come up with the idea to kill him with poisoned chocolate chip cookies. The logic behind this is that the "girlfriend" is a triathlete and would never touch the cookies and the "friend" would gobble them up.

In a remarkable coincidence, Justin and Andrew had actually left a bag of cookies at Brett's house when they had stayed there. Luckily for Brett, the cookies were not really poisoned.

The Robot Uprising is Near

The end is near for the human race; these robots are learning the skills necessary to kill us all. Recently, some Stanford students created a one-armed robot that can fight with a lightsaber. Then there was another team that had a computer play Civilization without teaching it the rules. The computer learned how to play by doing random moves and learning the consequences. Surprisingly, the computer beat a human opponent 46% of the time. Then they gave the computer the rules and it won 79% of the time.
