- Google launched Family Library this morning, allowing up to six people to share purchases from Google Play across devices. That includes music, movies, TV shows, books, apps and games. Over the next few days, the service will become available in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, the U.K., and the U.S. One person will become the family manager and the other members. All items are shared by default but selective sharing is an option and parental controls are respected. A credit card is shared as a family payment method but member can buy items with their own payment methods as well.
- Microsoft has a free photo app for iOS called Pix in the app store now. The app continuously takes pictures and uses an algorithm to select the best one from among 10 images taking before and after the camera button is pressed. It also does live images that mix still and live imagery to create a short video clip. It also reduces noise, adjusts contrast and white balance. Recode's Ina Fried notes the app is one of several recent efforts to go directly from Microsoft Research to the market.

- Xiaomi unexpectedly announced a laptop, the Mi Notebook Air. The 13.3-inch version has an Intel Core i5 Skylake processor with an Nvidia 940MX GPU for 4,999 yuan or $750. The 12.5-inch Intel Core M3 model sells for 3,499 yuan or about $520. The 13.3-inch model is 14.8mm thick and 1.28kg, technically thinner and lighter than a Macbook Air. Both sizes feature a 1080p display, blacklit keyboard and USB-C charging. The Mi Notebook Air will launch in China on August 2nd.

- Nintendo posted an operating loss of 5.1 billion yen ($49 million) down from a profit of 1.15 billion yen last year and worse than the estimate of 4 billion yen. Nintendo also announced its Pokémon Go Plus wrist accessory will be delayed until September due to software adjustments. Nintendo has forecast operating profit to climb 37 percent to 45 billion yen in the year ending March.

- Apple announced revenue fell 14.6% year over year to $42.4 billion dragged down by slowing phone sales and declining China revenue. iPhone unit sales fell 15%. Revenue in China dropped 33%. Still Apple beat expectations and iPad sales grew for the first time in 10 quarters to $4.9 billion although on fewer units. And iPhone SE sales grew as well. In the earnings call Tim Cook noted Apple Pay now accounts for 75% of contactless payments in the US and user numbers are up 450% year over year. He also expected service revenue to grow enough to make the business qualify for the Fortune 100 if it were spun out on its own.
- Road to VR reports an update to the Oculus Home software enables support for tracking the Rift and Touch with up to four trackers. That means you can add four trackers and use some Steam games that require them. Trackers have to be plugged in by USB.
- Facebook earned in $6.44 billion in revenue and $0.97 EPS, surpassing estimates of $6.02 billion and $0.82 EPS. Revenue growth was 59% year over year. Stocks saw a 7.5% increase with after hours trading at $132.60. Facebook added 60 million people this quarter to reach 1.71 billion monthly users.
