Afterlyfe.me is a project conceived by Brian Brushwood and in development by Patrick Delahanty where your tweets will be sent out after you die every year on the same day. If you do not check in on the site at least once a year (recommended on your birthday so you'll remember), it will assume you have died and goes into action. There will also be an option where you can get a special access code to include in your will to bypass the dead man's switch and allow for immediate activation by your will's executor.
Sometime after the initial launch, the site will add the ability for you to mark special "Best Of" tweets that you would like send out randomly.
There are many more details still under wraps as well as future additions which may be implemented at a later time.
Launch
The site was first announced in a blog post by Brian Brushwood on January 15, 2011. It gained more exposure on the January 16th episode of This Week in Tech which then led to it being discussed by Leo on the next This Week in Google.
Currently, the site only allows people to sign up for notification when it is available to everyone. (Patrick is still getting the back end in order and making sure it's nice and pretty and ready for prime time.) Launch is expected in advance of SXSW.
Only Twitter will be supported at launch with the possibility of Facebook in the future. There may also be support for future social web sites which may someday replace Twitter and Facebook, but support for these cannot be guaranteed until they're actually invented and release an API.
Ten years later, Patrick still hasn't actually launched the site. He's been busy with other projects. :(
